Detectives in Kasarani, Nairobi, have launched investigations after the body of an unidentified woman was found in an open balcony area between two apartment blocks along TRM Drive in what is suspected to be a fall from height.

The incident was reported on Thursday after a tenant alerted police upon spotting the body lying on the ground-floor outer balcony between the two apartments.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body of a woman believed to be about 35 years old.

Preliminary examinations revealed that the deceased had sustained multiple severe injuries consistent with a fall from a significant height.

Both legs were fractured at the ankles, fibula shafts and thighs, while both arms were broken at the elbows.

Several teeth had also been dislodged on impact.

Investigators are working to establish from which of the two apartment buildings the woman may have fallen and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The scene was documented by crime scene investigators before the body was moved to the Nairobi City Mortuary, where it awaits identification and a post-mortem examination.

Nairobi police commander Issa Mohamud said investigations are ongoing to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the cause and circumstances of her death.

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old construction worker died after falling from the fifth floor of a building under construction in the Astro area of Mihango, Nairobi.

The fatal workplace accident was reported on Thursday evening.

According to police, the deceased, identified as John Abuga, a casual carpenter, was working on the fifth floor of the building when he reportedly slipped and fell to the ground.

He sustained multiple serious injuries and was rushed to Bristol Park Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers visited the construction site and confirmed the incident. Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) personnel from Kayole processed and documented the scene as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident commenced.

The body was later transferred to the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police are continuing with investigations into the fatal workplace incident, including whether safety measures at the construction site were adequate.
