Our mother Elizabeth is the most influential person in our life she has ensured that as we shoot for the moon, we don’t get caught up staring at the stars. Her presence meant that we always had someone to look up to, a shoulder to cry on, and someone who I could ask for advice without hesitation. This person means the world to me. She is none other than our mother, our faithful guide and companion right from the moment we were born.

Our mother has always been our greatest supporter. She taught us that hard work is like a vector quantity. It needs not only magnitude but also proper direction. She is the first to recognise any of our talents and encourage us to nurture them.

Unlike many Kenyan parents who just want their children to be successful, Our mother wants us to be unique. She supports us in everything we want to do as long as we have an appropriate reason. It is only when she feels that, something isn’t in our best interests that she advice us against it. Even then, she leaves the final decision to us.

Our mother made us cultivate the habit of reading right from an early age. Every time we performed well in academics or in extra-curricular activities, she would buy us new books, ranging from short exciting novels to books that increased our knowledge. On a slightly different note, our mother is the world’s greatest listener. She listens carefully to each thing we tell her such as our problems, plans for the future and even trivial things such as things that happened at school and offers me the best pieces of advice.

Our mother made us realize that everyone makes mistakes but that mistakes aren’t meant to be repeated.

Our mother has always been there to share both our happiest moments and saddest memories. She taught us that happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light. She has truly been the most influential person in our life. She has been our best friend, our source of inspiration, our guide and mentor. We look up to her with love, trust and pride.
