Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has urged political leaders to put aside their differences and work together, saying unity among leaders is critical to fostering peace, social cohesion and development across the country.
Speaking during a church service and fundraising event at Ogwedhi Seventh-day Adventist Church in Suna East Constituency, Migori County, on Saturday, Dr. Omollo said cohesive leadership creates an environment where communities can prosper and government development initiatives can succeed.
“Today’s sermon spoke powerfully about unity. When leaders are united, the people become united. When leaders work together, communities prosper. Our churches become stronger, our institutions become stronger, and development reaches the people more effectively,” he said.
The PS called on leaders to rise above political divisions and prioritise initiatives that improve the welfare of citizens, particularly in regions that have historically lagged behind in development.
He also commended leaders from Migori, Homa Bay and neighbouring counties for demonstrating cooperation during the event, describing it as a show of inclusivity and shared purpose.
Dr. Omollo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equitable development through continued investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare and public service delivery, adding that the Kenya Kwanza administration is implementing targeted interventions to address historical inequalities across the country.
He said the government is also bringing services closer to citizens through the establishment of new administrative units, including locations, sub-locations and divisions, to strengthen grassroots administration and improve access to public services.
“We have gazetted several administrative units across the country to ensure wananchi can access government services more easily. We will continue recruiting and deploying officers to strengthen administration and improve service delivery at the local level,” he said.
The PS further appealed to communities to support the recruitment of qualified men and women of integrity to serve as chiefs and assistant chiefs in the newly established administrative units.
On healthcare, Dr. Omollo encouraged residents of Migori County to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA) programme, saying increased enrolment would enable more people to benefit from affordable healthcare under the Universal Health Coverage programme.
He also lauded churches for their contribution to promoting moral values, peace and social transformation, describing them as key partners in nation-building.
