Plenty of movement in the transfer window with just a day until the Premier League relaunches

Targets: Ebere Eze, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marc Guehi, and Alexander Isak
With the new Premier League season now just a day away, the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all working hard on deals before the big kick-off. Manchester City, though, could be the next club making a splash in the window as they look to shuffle their goalkeeper union, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma newly on the market. He could be available for a bargain fee of just £26m, though his six-figure wages may prove a stumbling block.
The Gunners remain interested in Eberechi Eze all summer, but Tottenham have swooped in to begin talks with Crystal Palace over a deal which could cost £68million, though cantonadigital sport understands his release clause expires tomorrow. Savinho is also wanted by Spurs at a similar price point.
After tying up a deal for young Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni, Liverpool are still chasing Alexander Isak, who is trying to force a move. The striker has vowed never to play for Newcastle again and gone so far as to move out of his Tyneside home. The Reds are also in talks with Palace, with Marc Guehi their top target to strengthen at centre-back as a separate deal nears for young Italian defender Giovanni Leoni.
Manchester United have spent heavily on their forward line and are now concentrating on midfield as they weigh up a second bid for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, who has given a green light to make the move to Old Trafford. Chelsea’s pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho could boost United’s coffers, while the Blues remain interested in Xavi Simons. Follow the latest transfer news, gossip and rumours live below!
Silva: Fulham ‘short on numbers’ after ‘passive’ window
Fulham manager Marco Silva his side’s “passive” transfer window has left the Cottagers short on numbers ahead of their Premier League opener at Brighton on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, the Portuguese said: “It’s not an ideal scenario. You used the word ‘quiet’ – I have to say we’ve been too passive. If you asked me if I expected it, I’d say of course not. But it is what it is, it’s the market.”
Silva continued: “It’s important we didn’t get injuries during pre-season because, in some positions, we are very short on numbers. We want to at least have a squad and players on the bench to play a Premier League game and meet the demands the league asks of you.
“It’s unexpected, even if it’s normal for Fulham to sign players late. I don’t go in that direction. I know what we want, and the plan was there.
The Fulham boss added that he is “hopeful” the club can “do something” before the end of the month, with negotiations over a potential club-record deal for Brazilian winger Kevin currently understood to be ongoing.
Personal terms have reportedly been agreed with the Shaktar Donetsk player over a five-year deal but club-to-club negotiations are proving more complex, with a €10m difference between the two teams’ valuations.

Man Utd open verbals talks with Brighton over Baleba
Manchester United and Brighton have reportedly opened verbal club-to-club talks for Carlos Baleba.
The Seagulls midfielder, 21, is being sought after by Ruben Amorim as part of a midfield rebuild at Old Trafford.
Baleba may cost the Red Devil as much as £120million, it has been reported.
Brighton chief executive Paul Barber is expected to be the “key person” in any deal, journalist Ben Jacobs says, and he has now had “some engagement” with United as of Thursday afternoon.
Here’s the latest on that transfer saga, including United’s alternatives.

Wissa not in Brentford squad amid Newcastle links
Keith Andrews has confirmed that Yoane Wissa won’t be part of Brentford’s squad against Nottingham Forest.
Wissa has been the subject of interest from Newcastle, who are weighing up a fresh £35million bid for the Brentford forward as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak, who wants to join Liverpool.
The 28-year-old – who scored 19 Premier League goals last season – wants to play Champions League football and has trained away from the first team squad this week ahead of Brentford’s opening game of the season.
Brentford’s record goal-scorer in the top flight was also left out of the squad for the Bees’ last two pre-season friendlies against QPR and Borussia Monchengladbach, having been granted permission to leave the club’s pre-season training camp in Portugal last month amid speculation around his future.
“We’ve made a decision that he’s not (available),” Brentford boss Andrews told reporters on Thursday, ahead of his side’s season-opening visit to the City Ground on Sunday afternoon.

Bournemouth unsure if Brentford-linked Ouattara will face Liverpool
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has admitted he does not know whether Dango Ouattara will feature in the Cherries’ opening Premier League game at Liverpool on Friday night due to ongoing negotiations with Brentford.
The Bees are said to be keen on acquiring the Burkina Faso international as their replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, with Amine Adli and Dario Osorio being lined up as possible incomings at the Vitality Stadium if the 23-year-old leaves.
“Dango is going to train with us today,” Iraola said on Thursday.
“He’s here, he’s in the building – but it’s true, I don’t know what’s going to happen. We’re taking it day by day. I’ll ask the club if he can play, if he can travel.
“These are the kinds of situations every team faces – players leaving, players arriving. It’ll continue like this for the next two weeks.”
The same apparently goes for midfielder Luis Sinisterra, who is reportedly close to a one-year loan with Cruzeiro in Brazil.
“Sinisterra is in a situation similar to Dango [Ouattara], where there is uncertainty around his future,” Iraola added.
“The most probable thing is that he doesn’t travel [to Liverpool]. But it’s true he has been training with us and he’s recovered health-wise.”
