That’s the question a client threw at me recently, half-joking, half-dreading their upcoming one.
And honestly? I surprised them with my answer:
“I do. I genuinely enjoy interviews.”
Here’s why:
It’s a rare chance to talk about your journey
You get to share the wins you’ve worked hard for
And you’re exploring an opportunity that might elevate your career
Sounds like a win to me.
Truth is, I didn’t always feel this way. But once I reframed interviews as conversations rather than interrogations, everything changed.
Now, I see them as a space to tell my story, connect with others, and showcase how I can bring value, not as a test I’m trying to pass.
And yes, even as someone who’s pretty modest, I’ve learned that owning your achievements isn’t bragging, it’s just clarity and confidence.
If interviews make you nervous, try changing the narrative. It might just change your outcome too.
