Police officers in the Soko Mpya area of Kinangop, Nyandarua County, have launched investigations into the murder of a Grade Five boy from St. Christopher Primary School.
The pupil was killed by unknown assailants in a maize farm, where his body was discovered on Thursday morning with his head severed.
According to local residents, the boy had spent the day yesterday on the farm with his mother but went missing later in the evening, and efforts to find him proved futile.
Next to his body, police officers found maize flour and his clothes packed inside a bag.
Residents of the area have strongly condemned the incident and urged the police to conduct thorough investigations and arrest those responsible.
A child rights officer in Kinangop, Mary Muigai, has advised parents to take good care of their children during the long holiday.
The boy’s body has been moved to the Naivasha Hospital mortuary.
