Tanzania became the first East African Country to have an electric railway system
The country has completed the Electric Phase between Dar es Salaam and Dodoma
The distance is estimated as 440 KMs, and currently, Tanzania ranks 6th in Africa with the longest Electrified Railway System
With 15% of its railway system electrified, the country ranks 2nd in Africa on the % of electrified railway from the entire railway system
The 440 KMs railway system cost about 3.1 Billion USD
With a maximum speed of 160 KMs/HR for the train, this has cut down the travelling distance between the two cities from 10 hrs to 4 hours
